Quality & Limits
Only JPG, PNG, and WebP inputs are supported — not GIF, BMP, TIFF, or SVG. Converting PNG with transparency to JPG or WebP replaces transparent pixels with white. WebP encoding depends on browser Canvas support; most current browsers handle it, but very old versions may fail. One file is converted per session.
What Usually Goes Wrong
- Choosing JPG output for a transparent PNG — Transparency is lost. Select PNG output to preserve alpha channels.
- Assuming WebP is always smaller — Simple graphics or already-optimized JPGs may not shrink further in WebP.
- Converting repeatedly between formats — Each lossy conversion (JPG ↔ WebP) can add artifacts. Convert once from the best source available.
Tips for Best Results
- For web photos, try WebP at 85–90% quality and compare against JPG at the same quality.
- Use PNG output when you need lossless quality or transparency preservation.
- After converting to WebP, run Compress Image if you need additional size reduction.
- Keep original files archived — lossy conversions are not fully reversible.
