These pages cover eight PDF jobs: merge, split, rotate, compress, JPG to PDF, PDF to JPG, Word to PDF, and PDF to Word. Open the page that names the file you have and the file you need. Merging does not shrink the result. Compress PDF on this site redraws each page as an image, so it is the wrong step when you still need selectable text, links, or form fields.

Word to PDF keeps extracted text and drops images, styles, and tables. PDF to Word copies extractable text and leaves a scanned page empty when there is no text layer. None of these tools uploads the file to a Vertex server. Compress PDF, PDF to JPG, and PDF to Word also download a PDF.js worker, and that download is named on those pages.

If a guide and a tool seem to describe the same job, use the tool to do the work and the guide for the limit. File-size and browser-memory limits are on each tool page. There is no account and no batch queue.

PDF Tools FAQ

Answers to the most common questions about our tools in this category.

Published PDF tools are free to use without a subscription. Supported formats, file-size limits, and conversion fidelity vary by tool and device; check the tool page before starting.

PDF tools process the file in your browser. They do not upload it to a Vertex server. Compress PDF, PDF to JPG, and PDF to Word also load a worker script, which is explained on How your data is processed.

File-size limits vary by tool. Check the limit shown on the tool page; large files can also fail if your browser runs out of memory.

Word to PDF keeps the extracted text and drops images, styles, and tables. PDF to Word copies extractable text into a document and leaves scanned pages empty when there is no text layer. Compress PDF redraws pages as images, so selectable text and links are not kept. Review the downloaded file before you share it.
