Scanned documents, phone photos saved as PDF, and exported slides often arrive with pages turned the wrong way. Rotate PDF fixes orientation by turning pages 90°, 180°, or 270° clockwise — either across the entire document or on specific pages you select.
What Happens to Your PDF
Upload a PDF, pick a rotation angle, and choose whether to apply it to every page or only the ones you specify. The tool uses pdf-lib to adjust each page's rotation property without re-rendering content. Text stays sharp, images stay crisp, and processing completes in seconds for typical documents.

Doing It Step by Step
- Upload your PDF to the tool.
- Select a rotation angle — 90° for sideways pages, 180° for upside-down pages.
- Choose all pages or specific pages depending on whether the entire document needs fixing.
- Enter page numbers if rotating selectively (e.g., pages 2, 5, and 8).
- Click Rotate and download the corrected PDF.
Worked Examples
Example 1 — Fixing two sideways pages inside a 10-page scan
- Pages 3 and 7 were scanned in landscape and appear rotated 90° counterclockwise.
- Choose 90° clockwise, select Specific pages, enter
3, 7, and click Rotate → pages 3 and 7 stand upright while the other 8 pages stay untouched.
Example 2 — Flipping an upside-down flatbed scan
- All 4 pages were fed upside down into the document feeder.
- Choose 180°, keep All pages selected, and click Rotate before combining the file in Merge PDF.
Quality & Limits
The tool rotates in 90-degree steps only — you cannot set a custom angle like 45°. It does not analyze page content to guess the correct orientation; you need to know which way the pages should face. If a PDF contains embedded annotations or interactive form fields, their positions relative to the page may not rotate perfectly with the content.
What Usually Goes Wrong
- Rotating the wrong direction — If 90° makes things worse, try 270° (or vice versa) instead of rotating multiple times.
- Rotating all pages when only some need it — Landscape charts in a portrait report should be rotated individually, not the entire file.
- Forgetting to check the output — Always scroll through every page after download, especially in mixed-orientation documents.
- Rotating before splitting — If you plan to split the PDF afterward, rotate first so each resulting page opens correctly on its own.
Tips for Best Results
- For a page that is both upside down and sideways, a single 180° or 90° rotation is usually enough — test with one page before applying to the whole document.
- Combine with Split PDF when only a few pages in a large scan need correction.
- Keep the original file until you confirm every page in the rotated output looks right.
- If you scan documents regularly, rotate immediately after scanning to avoid forgetting which pages need fixing later.
